* The following was written by the original compiler of the Kimberl family history, Paul Milton. *
Susan (very often seen as 'Sudie') and Joseph (ususally seen as 'Joe' or 'J.M.') Kimberl lived for many years in a farm house on Ridge Road, a little north of Monroeville. They farmed there and raised their family there. I have visited this house many times when it was still in the possession of my grandfather (Carl Locklin Kimberl). The house still stands today (last seen by me in 1993), althought it has been sold out of the family. Records show Joe selling bales of cotton to brokers in Mobile, Alabama in the early 1900's. One more recent visit to the Ridge brought me in contact with an elderly black woman who was a child when Sudie and Joe lived right down the road from her. As she had to walk past their house to school every morning and afternoon, she told me that she had often see 'Miss Sudie' sweeping her dirt front yard with a broom, and always raising beautiful flowers.
