Nellie King Shomo was from the Wind clan of Creek Indians. Her father was William Augstus Shomo, and his mother was Rosannah Weatherford, sister of William Weatherford (Creek Indian chief, Red Eagle). Rosannah's mother was Sehoy III, daughter of Sehoy II, daughter of Sehoy I.

Carl served during World War I in France and (I think), Germany. He was in a communications outfit. He served during World War II in the Coast Guard. Carl married (1) Irene STEADMAN, daughter of Jesse S. STEADMAN and Amanda Jane Tuberville STEADMAN in 1916 in Monroe County, Alabama. The marriage ended in divorce in 1919. Irene was born January 6, 1899. She died March 18, 1975 and was buried in Ridge Cemetery, Monroe County, Alabama. (Buried as "Irene Steadman Michael".)
